Skiing

We took Savannah skiing for the first time yesterday. She got skis and boots for Christmas and has been excited to go. Daddy woke up Sat. morning and decided that it was a beautiful day so we should go. We are lucky. We have a great mountain about 30 min. away. It is a smaller mountain compared to some of those big ones in UT but it is great for teaching little ones how to ski, and it gets just as much snow if not more in some cases as the ones in UT-and it is all real, none of it is machined. Pommerelle has a great little hill called the Bunny Slope for beginner skiers. I remember learning how to ski on the very same hill, but back then you had to hold onto a tow rope that pulled you up the little slope-can't tell you how many times I fell trying to master just the rope. Now they have installed this great little magic carpet. It's like a human conveyor belt, all you have to do is ski onto it and it takes you to the top. Thus began the afternoon, up the hill, down the hill, up the hill, down the hill... Jon and Savannah did the skiing and I snapped away with my new camera. (I did bring my skis just in case but knew I wouldn't get them out-I was right.) She was so excited and I think she had fun. Jon had fun too. He put her between his skis and held her under her arms. They probably did about 10 runs then she was done. We wanted her to only have fun so we said the second she wasn't we would call it a day. A beautiful day it was too. Maybe every weekend when Jon comes home we will go skiing. I think next time we will all ski and leave the camera in the car. Yet another memory of my baby growing into a little girl.

Brooke, it is so fun to read about all the things you have accomplished. We are excited now that Savannah can ski. Now we can take you all up to Wolfcreek and have fun as a family.Tell her to get ready.

Holy cow, we tried with kyrie a little while back, and she was too scared. Maybe now if she sees nana skiing, she be a little braver. that is so awesome!
P.S. We have been able to do some fun things, but our living is cramped and the pits!!!

I can not believe how grown up and beautiful Savannah is. We can not wait to see you all again. We miss you all so much! Now I have no excuse to try and ski seeing as how I will now be shown up by nearly every niece and nephew I have. In my defense I would just like to say that I did grow up in Texas! Love you!

Check it out! That looks like so much fun! Joshua says that Nana is so lucky because he hasn't ever been skiing before.
Why don't we all go on a little outing? We'll strap the twins on and off we go! Okay, maybe we'll wait awhile...
