Halloween

Savannah wanted to be Tinkerbell for Halloween. Well that was after some gentle persuading. Her Dad suggested that she be a hot dog just to be funny, but she took him seriously and for about a week had decided on that. I finally was able to talk her out of it by telling her that it would be all itchy and stiff because dad was just going to make it from Styrofoam at the shop then spray paint it the appropriate colors. So I got her talked into her other choice of Tink. I was rather proud of myself because I made her costume this year. It was a first. I'm not industrious or crafty in that area. A friend of mine had sent me a link to a site on how to make these absolutely cute tulle skirts, so that was how the skirt came about. I bought a pink leotard at Walmart and some green RIT dye and dyed it green. That was a first experience for me too. I got totally lucky and everything turned out right on the first try. YEAH! I did buy the wings at Walmart though, yeah no clue how to do those. The only pictures I got were these from the costume parade that morning and now I'm bummed that that's all I got because they didn't turn out very well.
We had a fun day though, even though we missed Daddy because he was on his was to Hawaii. She had a fun party at school, then we went to my mom's ward Trunk or Treat. That's where the fun ended. We were walking around getting the candy from everyone when we came to a car with a guy totally decked out the Zombie garb. She was hesitant to even go to that car and was kind of hiding in my coat as we walked up. The guy didn't mean to scare her, he was just trying to share his candy but he came up behind her and caught her by surprise and totally freaked her out. She screamed bloody murder and immediately burst into tears, absolutely bawling. She said she was done and wanted to go home, so we grabbed Grandma and headed out. But I think we may have found a new Halloween tradition as a result....we ended going home and eating dinner then we went to the movie. Savannah in her costume and everything we went and saw Beverly Hills Chihuahua. It was actually cute and a good way to end the evening. We might have to try it again next year.
